Indian Football lovers, it is time for us to cheer our football heroes. Nehru Cup Football 2009 final is today at Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi at 6:30 PM IST. Match will be played between India and Syria. Syria is a strong team and is yet to loose a match and even they are yet to concede a single goal during the whole torunament. Their defenders are stronger while Indian defenders are relatively weak. India certainly have to raise the bar and play to their potential. Strikers like Biachung Bhutia and Sunil Chetri are capable of breaking Syrian wall with the support from midfielders like Steven Dias, Sur Kumar Singh, NP Pradeep, Climax Lowerance.
India's advantage will be the huge home crowd support it gets at Ambedkar Stadium. From the time I have seen started football matches at this venue, India has never lost. Football lovers of Delhi are anxious to watch this match at the stadium which always proved to be lucky for host side. Those who could not come at the stadium they could watch the final match live at ZEE Sports tv channel.
Nehru Cup Football torunament is an international tournament and it is getting popular year after year. International sports media and TV channel are also covering the tournament. Because of huge popularity of the Nehru Cup, sponsors like ONGC, Airtel, Hero Honda are also coming up.... and as a football lover i hope it will increase further.
For your information, ticket can be found at the stadium and prices are Rs 20/- Rs 30/- and Rs 50/- . Even though I would be having the passes, I would love to go and sit opposite the pavillion with the local public as I just cant sit with the bureaucrats and other official who just come to cheer Indian side with a cosmetic smile.
